1 and a half month down, 691 fucking days to go

as the title says, ive been conscripted for almost 2 months now and i have exactly 691 days(from today) before i am no longer a slave. why a slave? considering the amount of work to be done, the working hours and an hourly pay of 1.33333 dollars, id say its slave labour. im not sure how much foreign construction workers are paid a day but i think they are either paid more or the same but have lesser working hours(true fact based on all the construction work done in my area.
they usually start at around 830-9, break at 10-11, work again till 1, have lunch till 2 and then work till 4 or 5 and then sit around waiting for the transport back)

talking about about transport, ive been posted to a place approximately 40 km away from my home and have to travel to and fro every single day. did i mention i had to be there at 8am? the route is fine if i drive but as everyone knows, traffic jams can screw you up so badly it might be faster to take an mrt. the worst jam ive been in so far during these 2 weeks at mindef was about 40 minutes. 40 minute jams during school holidays and 'non peak' hours. i wonder how bad it would be when school starts again in the new year.

im also deprived of a cook house and have to pay for all my meals despite making 1.3333 dollars an hour. the perks of this job are that i get to wear civis after a month and i do not have to run around diving into mud in jungles screaming taking fire need assistance.

job scope aside, i recently purchased a blackberry because the computers in the office have no net connection. singtel however, screwed up this happy occasion by making me go down to their roadshow twice on different days and screwing up my subscription details and not activating my blackberry services even after 5 working days. life sucks when you are conscripted.
